Site
History
Endless Rain was launched on
January 16, 2003. I had originally designed it the previous summer, as the
Beatles portion of a collective I was building, but I didn't get around to
actually uploading the site until much later.
I wanted the name of the site to
somehow match that of my collective, Rain-Shine - so I looked to "Across the
Universe" for inspiration: "Words are flowing out / like endless rain into a
paper cup / They slither while they pass, / they slip away across the universe."
My collective has long since disappeared, and although Endless Rain has
experienced periods of hiatus here and there, it still remains.
My goal has been to make Endless
Rain as unique as possible, but I still needed it to provide some of the "typical"
items found on Beatles web sites in order to satisfy a variety of visitors: I
wanted the site to be accessible as a resource for fans who are new to the
Beatles, and I wanted it to still be interesting to veteran Beatles fans.
Endless Rain also features many interactive elements that are designed to
encourage the active participation of the site's visitors and to diversify its
content.
I also wanted it to exist as a form of expression - a way in which I could
create a shrine for a band that has been extremely influential in my life.
I hope you enjoy your visit here - as always, I welcome your
